When did you get started with fitness?
I got started into fitness initially to lose weight and get healthy. Having adored the physiques I would see in the magazines, in which I was reading to learn about training, I wanted to take my discipline and body to a new level.
What drives you to be so fit?
I have said getting in shape and building muscle is a labor of love and I love the labor. There is nothing as satisfying as seeing changes in your body that you are 100% responsible for. I stay fit because we are only given one body, and I intend on having this body last me till I’m 100!
What has been the hardest obstacle for you to overcome?
One of the hardest obstacles I have over come is starting fresh in a new city. We all get comfortable in our life that becomes a pattern sometimes. Fear of change, fear of failure whatever the case may be can hold a person back. Some people are challenged by others and get into the “crab bucket” routine. There will always be naysayers who want to hold you back and keep you from achieving more. For they too are afraid and your courage makes them feel weak. I challenge your readers to go against that and push forward towards their goals, no matter the size.
Could you tell us about your current training program?
Currently I train on a 5 day split. With two active rest days. My routine incorporates plyos, cross fit workouts and giant sets. Every four weeks I change my workout to keep my body guessing.
What does your diet look like?
- Meal 1 – 10 egg whites, ½ cup dry oats, Magnum Performance Greens
- Meal 2 – 100g Chicken, 2 cups green veg, ⅔ cup brown rice
- Meal 3 – Magnum Quattro Shake, Flax Oil, Almond Butter, Rice Cake
- Meal 4 – 100g Salmon Sashimi, 8 Asparagus Spears, ⅔ cup yams
- Meal 5 – 75g Beef, 2 cups Bok Choy
- Meal 6 – ½ cup Greek yogurt, 10 Almonds
Do You Take Any Supplements
I am so fortunate to be sponsored by my long time favorite supplement line Magnum Nutraceuticals!! They are a pharmaceutical grade supplement line that is based here in Vancouver! I use virtually everything from their line and truly stand behind all of their products! Some of my staples are
Magnum Quattro in Chocolate Love – add a tsp almond butter to make protein pudding!
Loaded – this is a 3 a day multi vitamin anti oxidant super pill I SWEAR by! I never get sick when I’m taking this!
Performance Edge Greens – Phyto Berry and Greens blend! This stuff increases my focus especially when low carb and frees my body of free radicals!
What Is Your Favorite Body Part To Train?
I have learned to love training all of my body parts equally! All too often the favored body parts are the ones that look the best on the person, so learn to love them all equally and train them all with love and reap the rewards!
If you could start back from the first day you started training would you do anything different?
I believe everything happens for a reason and I feel that everything has happened in my life when God knew I was ready for it. I have no regrets and wish to fondly look at my journey and progress as my story and would not change a thing!
Is there anyone in the fitness industry you look up to?
I look up to many, and I could go on forever but two people who I look up to are Jamie Eason and Diana Rose Chaloux! Both women have rose to the top of their game with integrity and hard work!
Final advice for readers?
Dream boldly and silence your fear, fear is only the thought in your head that holds you back.
