When did you get started with fitness?

I have always been athletic growing up, Martial Arts and Cheerleading. But after gaining over 70 lbs during a high risk pregnancy due to a kidney disease since the age of 4, I became an over weight mom struggling with post-partum and depression from the weight gain. I then turned to the gym and a trainer for help. The physical change and remarkable mental change that being fit had over me, got
others to encourage me to take it to another level…. to step on stage and compete.:-)

What drives you to be so fit?

How it makes me feel, the energy and strength it gives me AND to set an example to my daughter.

What has been the hardest obstacle for you to overcome?

I feel every year I set new goals and have different obstacles to overcome especially being a mother. So I would have to say Time management: balancing a career and family.

Could you tell us about your current training program?

I train 5-6days a week. 1hour of plyos/ circuit/ weight training and I do 30min of Cardio, I add zumba/spinning to my cardio training if I get bored of the stair master/mill or elliptical.

What does your diet look like?

My food staples include:

  • Oatmeal
  • Lana’s Egg Whites
  • Berries
  • Brown Rice
  • Chicken
  • Bison
  • Fish
  • Asparagus
  • Atleast Half A Gallon/Gallon Water Per Day

Do you Take Any Supplements?

I Love MUSCLEPHARM products!!! I use their Combat (choc/peanut butter) protein powder, Recon (recovery/glutamine powder), MuscleGELS for snacks (perfect for traveling or on the go), and Pre workout powder ASSAULT-I have trained my best with this product!

What Is Your Favorite Body Part To Train?

Lower Body: Glutes / Legs, & Calves

If you could start back from the first day you started training would you do anything different?

There isn’t anything I would do different….I love the fact that I had to learn how to compete by myself. No one held my hand and pointed me anywhere, it was ALL Trial and Error. I lost MANY shows and had to learn how to become a champion through the years. I feel it makes me who I am now, I am grateful how far I have come in the last 2 years and will never forget the people who have cheered me on from day one. My journey is to inspire other men and women that you can start with a simple goal and turn it into a dream/reality.

Is there anyone in the fitness industry you look up to?

I Look up to successful people who have remained humble….the ones who have not let their success change who they are…
My Mentors: Paul Dillett & Clark Bartram. And my AMAZING Coach/trainer Doug Casebier, who has pushed me and believed in me since day one. There has never been a doubt with any of my goals to them…. These 3 men, I will be forever grateful for!
