Ainsley Rodriguez Interview

Name: Ainsley Rodriguez
Age: 22
Location: Miami, FL
Height: 5’4″
Weight: 115 Lbs
Occupation: SHREDZ Sponsored Athlete and Fitness Model

When did you get started with fitness?

I used to be a substitute teacher but that wasn’t giving me enough time to concentrate on fitness as much as I wanted to. I decided to stop teaching and made a leap of faith into the fitness world. I started busting my butt trying to get my name out there, and all of a sudden, I felt like this was the right place for me. I made the leap of faith and fitness caught me.

How do you stay so motivated? What drives you?

My inspiration comes from the people who tell me that I inspire them. To hear that my hard work inspires other people to improve their lives lets me know that if I quit, not only am I letting myself down, but I’m letting down all the people who look to me for motivation. My fans are my fuel.

What has been the hardest obstacle for you to overcome?

Acceptance from my friends and family in choosing this as a lifestyle. Ive gotten plenty of strange looks and eye rolls when I have opted for water over beer or chicken over pizza, but all in all everyone has been a great support system and I believe that obstacles only make me stronger.

Is there anyone in the fitness industry you look up to?

It might sound cheesy, but I look up to the people on Team SHREDZ. This is such a hard working team and I feel blessed to be a part of it. Seeing them grind makes me keep up with them. Whether it’s in the gym, on Instagram or actually training people, I want to be right there along side my team.

Name a fitness “Myth” that just isn’t true no matter how many times you hear it?

Myth: You have to do cardio if you want to get lean.
I’m not saying that cardio is a myth, but what I’m saying is you don’t HAVE to do cardio. I don’t do any cardio and look at me! I do very intense workouts to get my heart rate up and burn fat while lifting weights. I also eat a diet that is extremely lean. I try my best to put only good things in my body and I bust by butt in the gym. I do no cardio and I think I’m pretty lean 😉
